     Since 1994, Suncoast Dixieland Jazz Society has been entertaining the Tampa Bay area with live, must-see shows. We’ve got delicious food, and drinks with a great atmosphere at all of our venues, so don’t look anywhere else for an afternoon out on the town. Education in an American art form

​

     The Suncoast Dixieland Jazz Society, Inc is a 501-(c)3 not-for-profit organization that promotes and educates the public in the only original American art form of Dixieland jazz. We hold monthly concerts for our membership and promote our organization to the public. We also include the education and performance of our style of music for high school-aged students. Along with the performances, the SDJS offers a scholarship for two amazing students selected from the Tampa Bay area who wish to further their musical education in college or university.

 

     Along with the scholarship program, we also give two selected students the opportunity to go to a jazz camp in Sacramento, California to learn the style of Dixieland jazz by performing with other boys & girls who are there for the same purpose. The students are evaluated by their proficiency and placed in bands of like talent. They are taught the intricacies of jazz, such as, how to present themselves to the audience, and perform in a way that is stylistic of the era of jazz that originated with Louis Armstrong. in the early 1900's.
